Personal Statement

My work is my love-letter to the planet. In my practice, I connect directly with clays and other earths. Touch is my teacher. What has coalesced for me in recent years is a deep concern about climate change. In her book, The Optimist’s Telescope, Bina Venkataraman charges us to think of ourselves not only as descendants, but as ancestors. She urges us to steward this beloved planet so that our descendants can inherit a world that will sustain them for centuries to come. In art and life, I intend to heed her call.
